20 Most Underrated Open-World Video Games Of The Decade (So Far)

7. Rogue Legacy

Rogue Legacy
Cellar Door Games

Is a procedurally-generated castle offering endless rooms, corridors and enemy configurations an 'open-world'? Answers in the comments, but considering the intimidating size and breadth of Rogue Legacy's world, I'm saying yes.

Letting you play as a bloodline of knights all attempting to conquer said castle, your heroes' attributes are also completely random, ranging from super-speed and a variety of special weapons to chronic flatulence (though that can also speed you up). Thankfully all of this quirky tone comes together brilliantly, as you'll die constantly to the game's never-ending supply of baddies, only to prod the restart button for the sake of seeing what the game gifts you with this time.

There are various aspects that carry over on each playthrough - you are playing as a bloodline after all, there are heirlooms and property to acquire - but the main appeal of Rogue Legacy is perfectly scratching that immortal "Just one more try" itch.
