4. Vileplume

As another Grass Type that sits at the end of a chain of three evolutions, Vileplume has a very strong Special Attack stat that is absolutely worth exploiting in a battling team. Sadly, however, it suffers from the perceived weakness that so many other Grass Types have thanks to their un-obvious power in straight attack shootouts.

Look at the damage potential behind this, however, and Vileplume becomes a much stronger option. It's a wonderful Pokémon to start a battle with, so long as you have the right moveset. Teeter Dance is a must to confuse your opponents early, and Toxic will sew the seeds of despair in your foe immediately.

From there opting for any two from Stun Spore, Leech Seed or Sleep Powder turn this into a nightmare for an opponent who can be forced into switching furiously between damaged Pokémon. If you can get one with the Effect Spore ability, which gives a chance of opponents being hit by a status condition when making physical attacks, and you have a devilish beast on the battlefield.
