20 Most Underrated Video Games Of The Generation (So Far)
4. Mad Max
Mad Max managed to make the open world genre feel fresh again when it released in 2015. However, even though it was coming off the hype of Fury Road which came out in theatres only a few months prior, Avalanche Studios' attempt at the post-apocalyptic franchise released to little fanfare.
The reasons as to why are manifold, but it probably didn't help that although WB as a publisher had proven with games like the Arkham series and Shadow of Mordor that they can make great releases based on licensed properties, there was still an air of distrust around movie-to-game adaptations going into Mad Max.
Also it released on the same day as a little title called Metal Gear Solid V, which stole away eyes that may have otherwise been on Avalanche's brilliant sandbox game.
Still, it's one of the best entries into the open world genre in recent memory, shedding all of the fat that often bogs those titles down while delivering the definitive Mad Max gaming experience in the process.
If this game doesn't receive a sequel then it'll be one of the biggest mistakes of the generation.
