20 Most Underrated Video Games Of The Generation (So Far)
16. Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare
Infinite Warfare's fate was sealed by fans long before it even come out.
Not only was the game doubling-down on the sci-fi setting at a time where players were growing increasingly tired of CoD's futuristic focus, but Activision's decision to exclusively include Modern Warfare Remastered as part of IW's Legacy Edition turned fans against the game in the months leading up to its release.
They should have given it a fair chance however, because it was actually the best Call of Duty title in years. An attempt to shake up the series' stale gameplay, IW gave players access to a wide variety of new weapons, the ability to fight in zero-g environments and even missions that solely took place from the cockpit of a spaceship.
The story itself was surprisingly excellent too, telling an epic sci-fi tale that managed to keep the focus squarely on the game's eclectic ensemble of characters. Being unafraid to put this squad of misfits in genuine danger - for the first time in years - Infinite Warfare's campaign was able to evoke an emotional response from its players, rather than simply being an excuse to string together bombastic set-pieces.
