10. A New Half-Life Game Actually Comes Out

One of the big questions going into this generation was - "Will Valve finally announce Half-Life 3?"

And while the answer was ultimately "no," fans did get a new entry into the series, with the shock reveal of the VR-exclusive title Half-Life: Alyx.

Despite much fan hand-wringing, Alyx received universal acclaim upon release for its creative use of the VR medium, with many even considering it the greatest game ever released on VR platforms.

Even many months on, it's still tough to believe that another full-fat Half-Life game has actually been released, and also one which touts tantalising possibilities for the future of the franchise.
