The Image: Commander Shepard being faced with three options at the end of Mass Effect 3. Why It's Powerful: If you paid any attention to the Internet around the release of Mass Effect 3, you'll know why this image holds so much power and meaning. After BioWare repeatedly promised that the end of the game would take into account players' actions throughout the entirety of the series, it all came down to picking one of three colours...and that's it. Players were expecting something a little less arbitrary, and as a result, they duly expressed their outrage online, causing BioWare to eventually release an Extended Cut DLC to flesh the ending out, even if the damage had pretty much already been done. This single image is a testament to gaming in the modern age, that if players feel that developers have jipped them, they're going to speak up and give them both barrels about it. Developers beware: don't let your mouth write a cheque your a** can't cash!
