14. Meta Ridley (Metroid Prime)
Retro StudiosIt's amazing to think that Metroid's transformation into a first-person adventure game was initially met with criticism; the Prime series are arguably the finest Metroid games ever made. Mixing the Metroid formula with first-person shooter gameplay was a genius idea and it has some suitably great boss battles Facing off against Meta Ridley near the end of Metroid Prime is one of the series' greatest moments. The winged mecha-beast arrives near the end of Samus' adventure and it takes everything that you've picked up during her travels through Tallon IV to best this nemesis. The soundtrack is great; the fight is suitably challenging; and delivering one final blast to Ridley's face feels unbelievably sweet. It's genuinely one of those boss battles that you'll want to replay over and over again.
