12. Liquid Ocelot (Metal Gear Solid 4)
KonamiSpeaking of sibling rivalries, how about we look at probably the biggest one in gaming history? Solid Snake and Liquid Snake were both created as a result of the Les Enfants Terribles project and Liquid believed himself to have been created to be inferior to Solid, driving his desire to defeat him in combat and proclaim himself superior. Of course, he failed and died at the conclusion to Metal Gear Solid. Story over, right? Of course not. Instead, Liquid's arm was transplanted onto another of Solid Snake's nemeses - Revolver Ocelot. Through Ocelot, Liquid lived on and he embarked on one final plan to destroy the Patriots and plunge the world into complete anarchy. Solid Snake once again stops him and in the final playable scene of Metal Gear Solid 4, Snake and Liquid Ocelot battle it out one final time on the ruins of Outer Haven. It's gloriously well set and it pays tribute to all those foes who came before too - the soundtrack, HUD and Liquid's name all change over the course of the battle to represent the previous games in the series; it's an amazing little touch to please the fans one last time. Following a plot-twist unveiling Ocelot was in control the whole time, his final callback-remark of "You're pretty good" from Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is enough to leave us in floods of tears that it's all over - what an unbelievably satisfying way to end a series.
