20 Severely Underrated PS1 Games You Totally Missed
5. Eternal Eyes
https://youtu.be/MO_2XxbW0bY Like other budget titles on this list, Eternal Eyes was that sort of game you buy on a whim since it's cheap, expecting to be disappointed. Instead, you get a truly incredible experience. An isometric tactical role-playing game, similar to games like Final Fantasy Tactics and Tactics Ogre, the big difference is that EE merges the gameplay of those games with the monster breeding aspects of games like Pokémon. As you progress through the game, the monsters (called Mappets) can evolve into different forms that may or may not then be more powerful. The story follows Luke, who along with his sister find out they are descended from a race of people called the Eternal Eyes, and after a whole load of fantastical plot exposition setting them on their way, find out an ancient goddess of destruction is about to resurrected, and Luke must stop this. It's a nice and simple excuse to give you an overarching "Stop the world-enslaving evil" framework, whilst also encouraging you to do so by exploring as much as possible. Eternal Eyes is a simple, yet innovative tactical RPG that brings something different to the table. No PS Store release is available, but its easily found on the secondary market.
