16. Game Of Thrones: A Telltale Game Series
Telltale games have seen great success in pioneering a narrative template for all story-focussed games, however following that their portfolio took off considerably, seeing them apply it to everything from The Wolf Among Us to Back to the Future, Borderlands and even Minecraft (yes, really). Game of Thrones - despite its occasional audio bugs and rough graphical edges - is one of their best. Putting you slap-bang in the middle of The Red Wedding to begin, you then contend with the aftermath of that horrific event by controlling House Forrester, an all-new family that just happened to be hanging around everywhere from a Cersei n' Tyrion-filled throne room to Joffrey's demise. Some fans lamented that the only interaction you have with the main cast is through dialogue and not direct control, but honestly - who hasn't wanted to have a verbal battle with Cersei, work with Tyrion or see how it'd feel being in the same room as Ramsay Bolton? Overall the majority of the story focusses on the Forresters and their own personal conflict against the Whitehills, but considering Telltale's strengths lie in putting you in increasingly grey scenarios before forcing you to make terrible choices to escape; it's their best sequence of events since The Walking Dead's first season.
