20 Severely Underrated Video Games From The 2000s

19. Buffy The Vampire Slayer

The Scooby gang of Sunnydale High were finally immortalised in polygonal form with 2002's Buffy The Vampire Slayer, which translated Joss Whedon's trademark rapid-fire banter, razor-sharp wit and demon-slaying theatrics with dead-on accuracy, resulting in an adaptation that truly felt authentic to the show's tone and feel. With action taking place across 13 incredibly detailed locations from the show - from the hallways of the Sunnydale High School (complete with the gang's library hangout), to the Sunnydale cemetery (and even Angel's gloomy domicile) - players fought their way through hordes of ravenous bloodsuckers by utilising a surprisingly deep combat system which made the switch from fists and crossbows to stakes and shovels a simple matter of timing. Throw in performances by show's original cast (with the exception of Sarah Michelle Gellar), a script that reads like a lost episode from season 3 (my personal favourite), and you've got THE definite Buffy experience.
