10. When You Can See Your Body In First-Person Games
When the genre first got started, first-person action amounted to essentially piloting a floating gun around a series of environments, blasting chest cavities into oblivion across the likes of Doom or Wolfenstein. Nowadays if you decide to look down - y'know, just to see what's there, it's perfectly natural *cough* - you'll most likely see a badly-animated torso running awkwardly in-step with your movement. It rarely looks realistic, and combined with the use of mirrors from an earlier point can be even worse, but there's something quite special about realising a member of the development team had to put together a character model only a few select people would even see.
