What would the Alien franchise be without any apt metaphors on life and mythology?

As such, Alien: Isolation also contains a subtle - if a little on-the-nose - parallel to these themes that have coursed through the series: a ship named the Anesidora. In the context of the game's plot, this vessel is what originally brought the Xenomorph onto the Savastopol after its crew stumbled upon the same alien nest the Nostromos's crew found 15 years prior.

In Greek mythology Anesidora is an alternative name for Pandora, whose curiosity led to her opening a box that released evil into the world as punishment for humanity accepting stolen fire from Prometheus.

In this scenario, the alien nest is the metaphorical box and, like Pandora, it was humanity's curiosity that led to the horrors that would ensue.
