4. Uncharted 2 Got Nolan North A Role In Star Trek

Another connection between Uncharted and Hollywood, fans who watched 2013's Star Trek Into Darkness may have noticed a familiar face (and voice) make a quick appearance towards the end of the film.

Yes, Nolan North himself has a cameo in the sci-fi sequel, playing a crew member of the USS Vengeance who is shot down when Khan, Kirk and Scotty storm the command room.

It's a teeny-tiny role but it was cool to see him onscreen nonetheless, and according to North, he landed the part because director J.J. Abrams was a big fan of Uncharted 2 - specifically, its opening train scene:

"Interesting thing about this is that years later, I got to work with JJ Abrams... we talked about Uncharted. It was the reason he put me in Star Trek Into Darkness - a little part just for fun - and he said the opening of Uncharted 2 was the best opening of a game, television show or movie he’s ever seen."

In return, it seems as though J.J. Abrams sneaked an Uncharted reference into Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Doesn't Poe's costume look familiar?

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
