20 Things You Didn't Know About Uncharted

17. Uncharted 3's Clever References To Several Hollywood Action Movies

It's no secret that Uncharted is heavily inspired by action-adventure movies like Indiana Jones and National Treasure, and the third game in the series has a really cool way of paying homage to its Hollywood cousins.

While playing through Uncharted 3's extensive multiplayer suite, you could earn medals for performing specific actions - for example, getting the first kill of the game would grant you the "First!" medal, and getting a stealth kill would give you "Oh Snap!"

And brilliantly, some of these medals directly referenced famous action movies.

The "Yippie-Kai-Yay" medal (awarded for getting a kill while riding a zipline) is, of course, a reference to John McClane's iconic catchphrase in the Die Hard movies, while "Drake's On A Plane" (awarded for being on the winning team after the plane sequence) is a riff on Snakes On A Plane, and "If It Bleeds" (awarded for killing a monstrous Brute) is a line spoken in 1987's Predator.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
