If Resident Evil re-invented survival-horror, then Silent Hill perfected it. Konami's take on the genre took a more psychological approach to horror; using the player's fears, confusion and vulnerability against them. In 13 years, Silent Hill 2's reputation hasn't waned one bit, with fans of the genre around the world hailing the game as the best example of survival-horror. What starts as a simple tale of a man finding a letter from his dead wife soon turns into something much more disturbing. It's all done so well that it convincingly blurs the line between fantasy and reality, making the player feel as perplexed by it all as the game's protagonist. Though it did release on other platforms, Silent Hill 2 played and looked the best on the PS2 - making Sony's magical black box home to one of the finest games of its generation.
