What Remains of Edith Finch is a walking simulator that is made memorable and fascinating by the story it wants to tell players. The game puts very little mechanics in the way of the story as the most challenge any player will experience in trying to progress the narrative are minuscule puzzles.
You play as title character, Edith Finch, as she explores her family home in an attempt to piece together the history that has plagued her family members, dating all the way back to her great-great-grandfather.
There seems to be a curse upon the Finch family that causes all children in a generation to die except for one individual who is then left to carry on the family name. Edith is the last living member of her current generation and she seeks to better understand the curse.
As you make your way throughout the home you get to learn about each past family member and you get to better understand the circumstances surrounding their untimely demise in a way that is unique and beautiful.
