20 Video Games That Are About To Make A HUGE Comeback
10. Turok: Origins
Released for the Nintendo 64 in 1997, Turok: Dinosaur Hunter left a lasting mark on the first-person shooter genre, with its ambitious level design and weapon variety. The sequel pushed technical boundaries further with enormous levels and advanced AI that's still impressive today. If the franchise got any better, the prehistoric FPS could've given prized shooters at the time a run for their money.
Sadly, Turok struggled to maintain its momentum. Turok: Evolution and the 2008 reboot failed to capture the innovation that defined its early days. (And the less said about the chibi-styled Turok: Escape from the Lost Valley, the better.)
But there is light at the end of the tunnel. A new instalment called Turok: Origins was announced in December 2024, developed by Saber Interactive. Instead of maintaining the first-person perspective, the project will be a third-person shooter. It allows co-op play, allowing up to three players at once. It also contains a new mechanic, allowing the reptile-hunting warrior to extract DNA from enemies to upgrade abilities.
Little else is known, but let's hope Turok: Origins sets things back on track.
