20 Video Games That Are About To Make A HUGE Comeback

9. Onimusha: Way Of The Sword

Halo Campaigned Evolved
Capcom

Though it takes elements from Capcom's Resident Evil, like the fixed camera and puzzles, Onimusha leans more into action. Combat was marvellous for its time, combining melee attacks with strategic weapon use, allowing players to lay waste to swaths of enemies fluidly. (Also, sword-juggling demons never gets old.)

Unfortunately, the samurai hack-and-slash petered out several years after it debuted. But based on the recent remaster of the first two instalments, the Netflix show, and the VR game, there's no doubt love for Onimusha still runs deep. Wth sword slashers receiving a resurgence thanks to Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and Ghost of Tsushima, now is the time for the OG samurai saga to seize control.

And would you believe it, another entry is around the corner. Developed using Capcom's RE Engine, Onimusha: Way of the Sword boasts enhanced visuals and realistic animations. Motion capture technology was employed to ensure authentic swordplay, with real-life swordsmen contributing to the combat animations.

Director, Satoru Nihei, stated Way of the Sword should be accessible, since it doesn't use the punishing die-and-retry style associated with other Soulslikes.

Based on the amount of effort Capcom is putting into this revival, Onimusha should be back bigger than ever.
