20 Video Games That Secretly Reward You For Failure
12. Don't Arrest Joseph - Far Cry 5
Far Cry 5 follows the story of Rook, a police officer sent to Hope County in order to arrest a dangerous cult leader named Joseph Seed.
The game actually begins with a scene where you handcuff the man with a single press of a button.
However, while this seems like the right thing to do (not to mention so simple that even a toddler could do it), if you want to get the game’s best ending, you want to fail this interaction.
The Far Cry series is infamous for its absolutely demoralizing endings, and Far Cry 5 takes the cake for concluding with the worst of the worst.
Your options in the final act are one, refusing to arrest Joseph and then killing all of your friends when it turns out his cult has brainwashed you into becoming a sleeper agent, and two, arresting Joseph, only for the man to spark a nuclear holocaust anyway and then trap you inside a bunker, where he can torture you for the rest of your days.
Meanwhile, if you fail to arrest Joseph in the opening, you unlock a secret ending where your team leaves the scene and lets someone else handle the madness of Hope County.
Suffice to say, this is the best possible outcome.
