10. Aliens: Colonial Marines
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qLuOVI1Fic Game development studio Gearbox Software secured the rights from 20th Century Fox to develop Aliens: Colonial Marines, which is being blessed as official canon and as the official sequel to the classic 1986 film Aliens. Following a new team of Colonial Marines who return to the U.S.S. Sulaco to search for survivors from the first crew, the game is hitting all HD consoles and PC in February. Why it will be awesome: It's a well-known fact that video games that are movie tie-in's suck. Well, Spiderman 2 was pretty good, but in general, they're horrible games that often make one question why the money and resources to used to create them were wasted in such fashion. Good thing that Aliens: Colonial Marines not only isn't a tie-in, but actually has the blessing of 20th Century Fox to be an official, wholly new entry into the Alien saga. Hot off of the success of the Borderlands series, Gearbox is finally bringing this game to the masses, which will feature a fully cooperative 4 player campaign. What is most exciting about Aliens: Colonial Marines, however, is the plethora of multiplayer options that it is bringing to the table. The game will feature competitive multiplayer with teams of Marines facing off against teams of Xenomorphs. Also, there will be a slew of cooperative modes that are separate from the campaign, such as a Left 4 Dead-style "get from point A to point B without getting killed" mode, and several others that are as-of-yet unannounced. Gearbox has demonstrated with Borderlands that they can do cooperative first person shooters as well as anyone in the game, and taking that pedigree into the Alien universe should be a treat for gamers and Alien fans everywhere. A side note - Gearbox has confirmed that the Wii U version of the game will allow the player to use the gamepad as the infamous motion tracker from the movies, while the rest of the game plays out on the TV display. If that doesn't make the inner child inside of you want to do cartwheels, then game over, man. Game over.
