15. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2
I spent an entire summer gathered around a TV with my friends trying to nail all of the gaps in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2. Without internet and without a proper guide, we persevered in our endless quest to unlock the fabled Prima Carrerra, the final hidden character. Alas, we failed, but we had a hell of a good time doing so!
An absolute classic of a game which tapped straight into skater culture and made it awesome, THPS2 was the quintessential skating game for a long, long time. With a killer soundtrack, epic moves and a great selection of memorable levels, Tony Hawk's 2 is more than deserving of a spot on the fictional mini PS1.
In my head I can still picture myself out on my skateboard, kickflipping down a stairwell in the school before landing into a grind, indy grabbing out, manual'ing and launching myself off a handily placed ramp into an amazing Christ Air.
Of course in reality all I could do was ollie and pop-shove-it, but Tony Hawk's 2 helped us to dream.
