There was one company everyone was hoping would show up at the PC gaming conference, and that's Valve. Even ignoring Half-Life 3, they're one of the most pivotal and integral players in the PC gaming industry today, what with the (mostly) marvelous work they continue to do with Steam. Their appearance in some form or another would have marked a sure stamp of authenticity on the show, but alas, they didn't appear at all throughout the 150-minute show. Perhaps they figured that showing up without Half-Life 3 in tow would just be cruel to the millions of gamers out there. Still, a much-needed injection of pizzazz it would've been in a shockingly snoozy show.
