Gordon Freeman is a perfect example of how extraordinary circumstances can make even the meekest of people into a hero. Freeman begins the original Half-Life as a theoretical physicist simply doing his job at Black Mesa, but when an experiment gone wrong opens the way for an army of extraterrestrial creatures to invade Earth, Freeman is forced to save the world.

Armed with his now iconic crowbar, among other things, Freeman fended all manner of strange monsters throughout both Half-Life games and their expansions, and all the while other survivors turned to him for help. Freeman became the man you turn to to get the job done, and he always did so without uttering a single complaint.

Gordon Freeman is the pinnacle of the strong silent type. His actions speak louder than any words could, propelling him into a leadership role against the Combine. Despite such accomplishments, we still don't know the ultimate fate of Freeman. Will he ever defeat the Combine and save Earth for good? Perhaps we will never know.
