21. George A. Romero Wasn't Picked To Direct A Movie, But He Did Shoot A Commercial
When it was announced that Resident Evil would be getting the silver screen treatment, rumours were abound over who would direct. All eyes, fingers and rumours were aimed at the father of the zombie movie genre himself, George A. Romero.
Whilst Romero did write a script for a movie that was rejected in favour of Paul W. S. Anderson's instead (nice one, Hollywood), he did direct a commercial for Resident Evil 2 four years prior.
Only released in Japan, its popularity is what led to the movie/director speculation in the first place. Does make you wonder how faithful he would have been to the source material...
