Why, Capcom? Why do you continue to neglect one of the greatest mascots of all time? It makes us all sad that Keiji Inafune had to leave your employ and ignite his own Kickstarter campaign just to give the fans what they want. Inafune's Mighty No. 9 is looking like a fantastic homage to it's spiritual predecessor from what has been shown so far, but no matter how critically acclaimed it may be upon release, it'll never generate the same publicity that Mega Man's name can demand. From Software's Dark Souls may be the modern face of ball-crushing difficulty (quite rightly, too), but the Little Blue Man made difficult games a trend before they were 'cool'. If you bring anything less than your A-game in a Mega Man title, don't even bother booting the game up - you'll be destroyed in seconds. It's the exact same kind of twitch and reactionary gameplay that made Super Meat Boy enjoy wild success back in 2010, proving that an audience for such challenges is still there. Come on, Capcom - give us what we want!
