13. Metal Gear Solid 1, 3 & 4

It's not until you look back on Metal Gear as a series, that you realise how much of an allegiance Konami did in terms of exclusivity. The original was just on PlayStation, only for MGS 2 to see an Xbox release with its Substance variant, then MGS 3 was back to being on PS2 alongside MGS 4, and MGS V: The Phantom Pain spread out back to Camp Xbox again.

I mention this, because many still think of MGS as a PlayStation franchise, and especially for its original instalment, the advent of a game having cutscenes shot like a Hollywood movie completely reinvented what we thought was possible with the medium of video games.

If you've somehow not played MGS on PS1, grab a copy and transport your mind back to 1998 - everything from tiny details like seeing a character's breath in the cold, to the exemplary and timeless voice performances from the entire cast, etched Metal Gear into our collective memory forevermore.
