14. Shadow Of The Colossus

We'll continue to wait with baited breath as to whether the 10 year-developed The Last Guardian is actually worth it, but if you're in need of any reminder as to why Sony granted a particular studio so long to craft a game, look at Shadow of the Colossus.

Continuing on from ICO's mystical and dreamlike colour palette, SotC puts you in the shoes of Wander and his horse, Agro, as they attempt to slay 16 hulking Colossi, all of which range from underwater serpents to land-based brutes, charging hounds and flying, sunlight-eclipsing behemoths.

If there's one thing that'll consistently take your breath away every time you find a new Colossi, it's the sheer dwarfing scale applied to all of their movements. No game before or since has ever made you feel quite so inconsequential next to humungous boss creatures, and for that, Shadow of the Colossus is one hell of a memorable ride.
