Nintendo's iconic plumber Mario made his debut in this frustrating but ultimately mesmerising platformer. The average game of Donkey Kong only last a couple of minutes; as a result, it's often thought to be one of the most difficult video games to master, and has been used as a sort of pinnacle for arcade nerds ever since. The gameplay is simple: as "Jumpman" (the original name for Mario, in case you didn't know), your mission is to reach the top of screen in an attempt to rescue a Princess from the clutches of the titular ape, Donkey Kong, dodging fireballs and barrels as you go. A true classic, and an endurance test of the highest order.
