Awards season kicks off with the highly anticipated release of Blade Runner 2049 some 35 years after the classic original released, directed by the magnificent Denis Villeneuve (Arrival).

Harrison Ford returns as Rick Deckard, playing opposite new Blade Runner K (Ryan Gosling), and an insane supporting cast including Ana de Armas, Robin Wright, Mackenzie Davis, Dave Bautista and Jared Leto.

The teaser trailer released to date shows off Roger Deakins' eye-meltingly beautiful cinematography (he might finally win that damn Oscar on his 14th attempt) and conveys a mood consistent with the atmosphere of the original.

As long as it doesn't follow the belated sequel trend of basically just remaking the original, this could be something incredibly special.
