5. Project Scorpio (Late 2017)
Announced back at last year's E3, Project Scorpio is a new Xbox One model with vastly superior tech specs that will reportedly make it "the most powerful console ever".
With a focus on high-end 4K and VR gaming, it's safe to say that when we finally learn more about the platform later this year (possibly at E3), it'll come complete with the Xbox's rumoured VR platform.
Considering the lead Sony have had with both 4K and VR, Microsoft will need to come storming out of the gate to snatch back a chunk of the console market share.
That said, the late 2017 release suggests that the Xbox One won't adhere to the traditional generational console life cycle, as Microsoft are clearly jumping in with both feet for this one. Expect the Scorpio to be their flagship platform until at least the early 2020s.
