Hugh Jackman's possibly final appearance as the legendary Wolverine will take place in this X-Men spin-off which appears to ape the tone of bleak neo-westerns such as No Country for Old Men.

Jackman looks more grizzled and worn down than ever, Patrick Stewart's Xavier is similarly in dire straits, there's a bada**-looking villain played by Boyd Holbrook and a promising new mutant in X-23 (Dafne Keen), so plenty to be excited about.

If the final film maintains the tone of that gorgeous first trailer and doesn't pull a The Wolverine on us with overt silliness late in the day, this R-rated romp could be one of the best-ever comic book movies, and a fittingly emotive tribute to Jackman's marvelous work in the role.
