30 Classic SNES Games You Must Play Before You Die
18. Mortal Kombat II
Mortal Kombat's gruesome, bloody Fatalities were hated by parents but loved by kids; even in 16-bit, they are gnarly.
While various governmental departments focused on the bloody violence, gamers looked past the harsh exterior and found a fantastic game. Still regarded as one of the best fighting games ever made, Mortal Kombat II is ridiculously fun.
It plays faster than the original game and adds new special moves to tear opponents to pieces. It nails the intense competitive spirit of the genre; slicing your opponent in half and leaving them bleeding all over the floor is still the best way to say "I won".
