30 Classic SNES Games You Must Play Before You Die

16. Super Castlevania IV

A remake-of-sorts of the original Castlevania, Super Castlevania IV takes the first title in the series, gives it a fresh lick of 16-bit paint, adds some updates to the previously frustrating control scheme and makes one of the best games available on the Super Nintendo. Not bad.

The key upgrade to Castlevania comes with the new whip system. Using the advanced technology of the SNES, players can control the whip to attack enemies in eight directions as well as block projectiles.

Using the whip to swing around while exploring Dracula's castle is intriguing fun and the atmosphere of the game (boosted by the new look graphics) is top notch - anybody looking for classic Castlevania action need look no more.

I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
