1. Shenmue 3 Meets $2 Million Kickstarter Goal In Less Than 9 Hours
Before the shock of Shenmue 3's Kickstarter announcement had time to wear off, the game had already reached its $2 million goal, sailing past it less than 9 hours after the campaign was launched, ensuring every Shenmue fan can rest easy that the long-awaited sequel will actually get made. Of course, the game won't be budgeted at $2 million, but this is just a "trigger goal" to show audience interest to investors, who will now release funds to Yu Suzuki to get the game of his and every fans' dreams made. Even so, the record-breaking destruction of its goals now has fans wondering how much money the game will scoop up in the remaining month until the campaign ends. It's safe to say that, even as the influx of cash slows over the coming days, the game will easy surpass $4 million and possibly even $5 million with so much time to go. That this will secure all of the current stretch goals should no doubt result in a more polished and nuanced game, as Sony's investment in the product will likely be scaled to how much the Kickstarter brings in.
