4 Potential RPG's That Would Be A License To Print Money

3. A Good Adaptation Of A Song Of Ice And Fire

If there's one television show that seems to be followed by everybody and their mother at present, it's Game of Thrones, the HBO adaptation of George R.R. Martin's acclaimed literary series, A Song Of Ice And Fire. Set in the Seven Kingdoms of the fictional continent of Westeros (as well as accompanying city-states in the adjoining landmass of Essos), it depicts a number of well-crafted tales of war, survival and political scheming. There have been lots of attempts to capitalise on the success of the phenomenon, including apps, cookbooks, board games, art collections, comics, parodies, companion books, commentaries, Funkos and countless other pieces of merchandise. There have also been several games, all of which (including the only true RPG of the bunch) have been either distinctly average or downright mediocre with the exception of Telltale Games' recent foray into the market, which is made in their trademark point-and-click style. An MMO based on the world of the series was announced in 2012, though there has been no news about its development since, leading to the assumption that it has been discreetly cancelled. Online or offline, Martin's fictional universe is an almost perfect setting for an RPG, given the depth of its lore and the fact that huge swathes of it remain unexplored in any medium, with Casterly Rock and Highgarden amongst the most notable places that have never been depicted firsthand in the books or on the show. Only certain developers would be able to do such a game proper justice and avoid simply repeating the mistakes of the 2012 attempt, but if done correctly in a way that truly brings the world to life, copies would fly off of the shelves as fast as they could be stacked.
