3. Campaign Length
I am a huge fan of JRPG's. Because of that, I'm no stranger to stories lasting a hundred hours or more and when I have time for that, I love them. The problem here is that statistically the age of the average gamer is steadily rising and the average amount of time those gamers have to play games is steadily dropping. Gamers in their twenties and thirties with a job don't always have the time they used to have to play through dozens of hours to get a good story. Where Spec Ops does things right here is that it gives a moving and powerful story in around six hours, maybe a little less, which takes on a very different mood on the second playthrough. It is fairly likely that if you play this game and enjoy it, you will be able to find the time for a second playthrough which is more than can be said for a lot of story centric games. By shortening the games length, the developers have also been able to keep the game moving at a fantastically fast pace. Without trying to pad the game out to boast a huge campaign length on the box, the story is all killer, no filler. While it is not the only game doing this, it is one of the better attempts at it and feels the most successful in recent memory at maximising what it does with the time it has.
