4 Things We Want From Dead Space 3

What Culture think wistfully about what we'd like to see in the latest iteration of EA's big horror franchise...

With the news that we'll likely be seeing Dead Space 3 some time around March 2013, it's got us thinking wistfully about what we'd like to see in the latest iteration of EA's big horror franchise. With details sparse, people might be able to form a rough idea about what's in store, but mostly it just opens the gates to rampant speculation. While I'll try to keep a somewhat restrained hand on the proceedings, I can't promise that by the end of the article I won't be calling for Isaac to fight necromorphs while riding a laser breathing velociraptor.

4. A Cerebral Horror Experience

When the Dead Space 3 info was initially leaked this was the first thing I knew I wanted the game to do. With Capcom flat out telling players that they are actively moving away from survival horror into the action genre, it would seem that the Dead Space Franchise has become the last bastion for traditionalists.

With Dead Space 2's visible shift into the action scene, I don't know how likely it is that we'll get a slower paced horror game. I enjoyed Dead Space 2, but it's frantic nature didn't lend itself well to creating an atmosphere of foreboding or tension. The kind that makes you inch around corners because your scared of what you'll find on the other end. With Dead Space 3 set to take place on an icy planet, it's difficult at such an early stage to gauge how effective this will be in creating a claustrophobic environment.
