4 Types Of Video Game DLC You Should Hate (And 4 To Love)

3. Worst: Downloadable Costumes/Skins

Dlc Skins Once upon a time, in a land far, far away, there was a young gamer. After playing a game this youngling would often be presented with some shiny new costumes that changed his character into something else, allowing him to play the game once more and feel awesome. This was presented for free to the gaming youngling, and there was much rejoicing. If you've only been gaming since the Xbox 360 and PS3 era, this was what the past was like! Yep, there was actually a time when costumes and skins would actually be packed into the game disc, and not locked off unless you paid more money to unlock them! Sure, there's a few examples of recent games (such as the Batman Arkham series) letting you unlock new costumes as you go on. This, however, is not the norm. Countless games now charge you to access new costumes for your characters and the golden days of everything being included on the disk are now gone. You could argue that this a great optional way for someone to expand their gaming experience. This argument is inherently flawed however as this content could be presented for free and still give us a great optional way to expand our gaming experience. It was done in the past, but digital moneygrabbing has all but made this once wonderful practice just another fairytale.
