5 Best Console Redesigns

3. Game Boy Pocket

Another Nintendo handheld makes this list but for an entirely different reason. Whereas the original DS was rather harsh on the eyes the first incarnation of the Game Boy was, at the time, perfectly fine. That was of course apart from one key element, the size. Yes back in the early 90's pants were indeed a little baggier but even then hardly anyone could fit the grey mammoth into their pocket. Sporting a true black and white screen and requiring just 2 AAA batteries, the Pocket was every kids dream. Finally you could take your Game Boy to school without the teachers spotting it the moment you entered the playground.

2. Xbox 360 S

If there was ever a system that truly needed a redesign, it was the Xbox 360. The large, loud, and famously unreliable box from 2005 was really starting to show its age, especially when held alongside Sony's new PS3 Slim. Add to that the enormous power brick and lack of wifi support, things weren't looking good as Microsoft looked to maintain the system's momentum. The 360 S was first revealed at E3 2010 and in Apple-like fashion the system hit US stores just days later. The system was a huge hit not only with new buyers but also existing 360 players looking to upgrade. Along with Kinect the new Xbox 360 S has played a vital role, for better or worse, in extending the console cycle to an incredible 7+ years.
