5 Best Video Game Comics Fans Must Read

3. Dragon Age: Knight Errant

The best part of the Dragon Age series, like any great RPG game, is the world the game takes place in. The world of Thedas is equal parts beautiful, horrific, miraculous and brutal, and filled with the kinds of people you can expect to inhabit such a world. Even the best, brightest and most optimistic among Thedas' masses have an air of cynicism about them, a world weariness that comes from living in a world that is realistically unforgiving.

So it only stands to reason that such a world, and such people, would be perfectly suited for a comic adaptation. Dragon Age has had many comics over the years, but the best by far is the Knight Errant mini-series.

The reason for this is simple - it stars completely original characters. This keeps it free of the baggage of the game series, and thus means it can go in whatever direction it pleases with its leads.

While familiar characters from the games do appear, it's mostly as cameo roles. This story is mostly here to show where the world of Thedas is after the events of Dragon Age: Inquisition. But along the way it tells a compelling tale of an old Grey Warden and his young apprentice.
