5 Best Video Game Comics Fans Must Read

2. Injustice: Gods Among Us

DC is no stranger to elseworlds stories, seeing as how they coined the phrase. But when the imprint ended in the early 2000s, fans were convinced they had seen the last of this experimental series.

That was until NetherRealm Studios released Injustice: Gods Among Us, a fighting game that's story harkened back to the Elseworlds tales of old with its Superman-gone-evil premise.

Then DC made things even better by assigning some of their top tier talent onto making a comic book adaptation of the video game. The book is about detailing what happened in the five years leading up to the events of the game. However, the premise tends to really boil down to why the main game has so many absentees, and naturally - given the tone of the game - the reason why is never particularly uplifting.

Make no mistake, this is a dark, Debbie-downer of a book. It's also one, however, that remembers to have a lot of fun in the meantime. Even when it does go dark, it's still fantastic.
