When IDW got a hold of Sonic the other year, hired on basically everyone who worked on the Archie series, including writer Ian Flynn and artist Tracey Yardley, got some more talented people from their personal rolladex just to make things more awesome, and more or less told the new team to have at it, the publisher created something special.
The resulting product is, without question, the best video game comic out right now. Endlessly fun, packed with witty humor, great characterization, and a compelling narrative that ties into the games perfectly, Sonic is a testament to IDW's continued ability to make licensed comics enjoyable, and it's one Sonic fans won't want to miss.
While it's still technically in its early issues, it has enough out right now for any reader to concretely decide whether or not they'd keep up with it going forward.
It's the best piece of Sonic media to come out in years, and one the Blue Hedgehog's fans simply must read.
