5 Best XBLA Games Of 2012

3. Quantum Conundrum

Quantum Conundrum

This quirky game comes from the fantastic mind of Kim Swift, co-creator of Portal and is another brilliant first person platforming puzzle game. You play the nephew of Professor Fitz Quadwrangle who has trapped himself in another dimension and needs your help to be brought back to the present world. The professor can vocally communicate with you as you make your way through his massive mansion that is filled with puzzles, death traps, lasers, pits and dimension shifting switches, something all our favourite uncles have I€™m sure. The protagonist has the ability to alter between four different dimensions, slow, heavy, fluffy and reverse gravity are on offer, with each one or all required to navigate your way around the objects thrown before you. Fans of the Portal franchise will find this immensely enjoyable as there is nothing better than the feeling you get after solving a particular conundrum all by yourself. Quantum Conundrum was a breath of fresh air in 2012 and one that filled the void I was left with after my conquering of Portal 2. Two DLC packs have since been released for Conundrum adding extra rooms to work through, so there is plenty on offer to get stuck into to pass the time before Portal 3, if it ever gets announced.
