5 Great Spider-Man Video Games (And 5 That Sucked)

6. Great: Spider-Man (PS1/N64)

What do you get when the studio that birthed the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater games teams up with the voice cast from the beloved Spider-Man: The Animated Series and Spider-Man: Unlimited cartoons? One of the coolest Spider-Man games to hit the market.

Whether you played it on PlayStation or Nintendo 64, this game was a joy to play despite being pretty cut and dry. Players were really only challenged with to make their way across each level by beating up bad guys or simply strolling through it. Still, web slinging from place to place only to find a classic villain waiting was enough to keep the momentum going.

Critically, this game received acclaim, but one of the reasons players so fondly remember it may be due to the timing of its release. Only two years detached from Spider-Man: TAS and before Spidey's first portrayal on the big screen, 2000 was an ideal year for this game to debut.

In many ways, it was the quintessential Spider-Man game for the time. A fun story that wasn't too serious, more freedom than a side-scroller, and character depictions that mirrored the source material made this game a cherished favorite.
