5. Augustus Cole Gears of War
Cole is funny and always has your back, the definition of a wingman. Throughout Gears of War 1, 2, 3 and Judgement, Cole-train kicked serious ass and helped you out on countless occasions. One such occasion in Gears of War 2 sees Cole singled-handedly save Marcus, Dom and Benjamin from a locust ambush. Cole started out as a Thrashball player, who then joined the Gears after E-Day. Cole and Baird were always a great dynamic in Gears of War, two best buddies who supplement the protagonist and his best friend. Fans immediately took to the duo and that's the reason they got their own game with Judgement. That's how interesting and important a character he is to the Gears franchise; he got his own game. With lines like "Whatever the hell that is, that's a new world record in ugly!" it goes without saying thay Cole-train brings the comedy element to an otherwise dark and gritty franchise, something crucial to giving you some reprieve after a big battle with blood-thirsty locusts. Selfless and a good friend, Cole certainly fits the bill of a good wingman.
