4. Daxter Jak & Daxter
Daxter is the wise-cracking, shoulder-perched sidekick of Jak, from the Naughty Dog PS2 series. Daxter was, at one point, a boy just like Jak but fell in a vat of Dark Eco and was transformed into an ottsel (half otter, half weasel). As a real fan-favourite character Daxter has been referred to as "the life of the (Jak & Daxter) series". He brings the comedy element to the series and is more concerned with taking the easy way out, often avoiding conflict. Daxter also tries to be a womanizer, needless to say he fails.....largely due to being an ottsel. Daxter well and truly brings the charisma to the series. Fans of the games could become frustrated with Daxter because Everytime Jak died we'd get a clip of Daxter looking down at Jak and saying "Step 1: stay alive. Step 2: Think about not doing something like that again!", or he'd say "Well, ah, better you than me" or "Please Jak! You're such a wimp, I could have taken them myself". Those are just a few of the things he'd say but they never bothered me. Dying in video games is very frustrating but having that little video each time brought a little comedy to an otherwise frustrating scene. Daxter well and truly brings the charisma to the series. Whether Daxter is really a great wingman is debateable, seeing as he often lets Jak rush into battle without him, his skin tends to be the most important. However I think, when push comes to shove, Daxter is there for Jak and his friends. Despite his cowardice, Daxter got his own game for the PSP, showing he can stand up for himself when necessary. As well as this Daxter is continually loyal to Jak and has, on occasion, gotten riled up whenever Jak is made fun of or criticised. They are a true bromance that will last the ages.
