5 Heavy Bands Who Sampled Popular Video Games

1. In Hearts Wake - "Survival (The Chariot)" Sampled Halo

In Hearts Wake are 13 year veterans of the industry who rose to prominence alongside bands like Northlane, The Bride and Parkway Drive as pioneers of Australia's metalcore scene.

The final entry comes from a track off of their debut album Divination. The -you guessed it- fifth song from Divination is entitled "Survival (The Chariot)" and serves as one of the records heaviest offerings. Bifurcated by a breakdown, the initiation to this tempo change is a sound bite that fans of first person shooters will hopefully be well aware of.

"Killing Frenzy"

The sample coincides with successful runs from the popular Halo franchise. Known for its innovative combat, creative movement and expansive universe, Bungie's brainchild stood with rival Call Of Duty at the forefront of the first person shooter genre.

The game found extensive ways to reward various kill streaks, with five kills in a row earning you a "Killing Frenzy". Achieve this level of dominance and the game's narrator would inform you by dramatically yelling out your accomplishment.

Placing this right before the song's most frenzied part was a sure fire way to get the endorphins pumping through anyone not living under a rock during the franchise's peak popularity.
