"Monster Hunter" is a series that literally sells systems...in its home country of Japan. Japanese sales numbers for the Nintendo 3DS immediately jumped when "Monster Hunter 3: Ultimate" was released. The "Monster Hunter" series is second only to Street Fighter and Resident Evil in the contest for the best selling Capcom game series, but again, most of those sames come from Japan. The game consists of beating up giant, ferocious monsters with weapons twice as large as the player...so why have sales been sluggish in Western markets? First off, the series's difficulty is not for the faint of heart. The Leroy Jenkins approach to monster hunts will get you killed every time, so it takes concentration and strategy. It has also been guessed that since the multiplayer of "Monster Hunter" is cooperative, not competitive like popular Western titles. It's a shame too, just look at this glorious trailer for "Monster Hunter 4".
