3. King Allant - Demon's Souls
This sad pile of amorphous failure is King Allant, the
true King Allant. This being that was once a man is partially responsible for the fall of Boletaria and is entirely responsible for the awaking of the Old One. Allant claims that due to violence of mankind, it is completely reasonable to have the Old One snuff out all life on the planet, and attempts to justify this by claiming that "nobody wishes to go on". Such a generalization is a testament to this once-man's massive ego and unwittingly self-righteous nature. All throughout Demon's Souls, you are tasked with defeating some of the most difficult enemies and overcoming some of the most difficult challenges in modern gaming, and I adore such challenges. The boss you face just before this one, Old King Allant, not only takes a great deal of skill to conquer the first time you face him, but it also takes great endurance, willpower, and time to even reach that point in the game.
Once you've finally reached the end of the game and step inside of the Old One, you're tasked with fighting a grotesque, flopping monstrosity that is incapable of fighting back. After such a difficult ordeal just to reach this final act of the game, I was severely discouraged.
